Thimble Art sells quilting patterns that feature an original 3D technique.

The Challenge:

Quilters, in general, are a social group—they shop together, quilt together, and travel to conventions together. They’re also very trend conscience, and are constantly looking for the next “cute design”.

Thimble Art’s challenge has always been threefold. First, to grow a large community of evangelists—an army of like-minded quilters who are fiercely loyal to Thimble Art designs and techniques. Second, to build customer trust and confidence in Thimble Art techniques and products. And third, to motivate fans to share their enthusiasm with others.

A social media marketing strategy seemed like the perfect way to cherry-pick their potential audience worldwide.

The Solution:

An ecommerce blogsite became the foundation of the strategy. This site would allow for quick and easy updates for patterns, education and related content. The community environment could instill a sense of “quilting together”—an aspect this audience was already fond of.

The Tactics:

Thimble Art’s blogsite has become the world’s first resource for their new 3D techniques, and provides the flexibility of posting new styles and upcoming events quickly and painlessly. They have also positioned themselves as “being there for the customer” through the dynamic power of the blogsite. If a question arises it can be answered online, by video tutorials, by other community quilters, or by actually asking the designers themselves.

The blogsite has only been up now for a few months and has already increased online sales 400% over the previous legacy website.
