Translating talent and passion into traction.
Rob Jensen is an extremely talented industrial designer employed at Ford Motor Company. He graduated from Brigham Young University about five years ago and went to work immediately for Ford.
Over the years he has worked on a number of high-profile designs for Ford, and has received many great design accolades. However, Rob’s design interests extend well beyond the automotive industry.
The Challenge:
As is the case with most people who have great passion for what they do, Rob was anxious to extend his influence and his professional opportunities. But without the deep pockets necessary to hire a fancy-pants ad agency or PR firm, Rob faced the same challenge that most solopreneurs face—how does one get impact without spending boatloads of money?
The Solution:
Social media marketing strategies were an obvious “perfect fit” for a number of reasons. First, such strategies allowed him to make a relatively big splash, in a relatively short time, without a big budget. Second (as is the case in many industries), Rob saw a chance to assume a leadership position, and to tell a timely story. And third (although such aptitude isn’t a prerequisite), Rob is a bit of a propellor head and enjoys toying with web-based programming and design dynamics.
The Tactics:
As is the case with many (perhaps most) social media strategies, a blogsite seemed like the perfect place to start. We helped Rob design and launch his site in December 2008. You can visit his site HERE.
We are also helping Rob become an active microblogger and extend his social networking reach.
